Jesse and Rosa Manriquez

Providing gifts of hope, generosity, and community advocacy

With a family history of cancer, advocating on the behalf of local cancer patients and their families is a cause that remains near and dear to the hearts of Jesse and Rosa Manriquez, community philanthropists and owners of Rancho Harvest, Inc.

Together, Jesse and Rosa have experienced just how devastating a diagnosis and the journey of cancer can be for families. Rosa’s mother, Trinidad Guadalupe Sanchez, was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2002 and passed away nine months later in July of 2003 at the age of 72. And Jesse’s cousin, Jose Leal, was diagnosed with late-stage prostate cancer at the age of 59 in June of 2011 and lost his battle with the disease only one month later.

With the passing of two close family members, Jesse and Rosa recognize the importance of advanced cancer care and meaningful community support services. As a result, when the Marian Foundation approached Jesse and Rosa about purchasing more than 30 palm trees from Rancho Harvest for the landscaping of Mission Hope Cancer Center, they instead offered to donate all the trees to the region’s first integrated cancer center, free of charge.

Jesse and Rosa have generously supported both Marian Regional Medical Center and Mission Hope Cancer Center at every turn through gifts of their leadership, time, and resources. In support of Marian’s Cornerstone Campaign to build the new hospital, Jesse and Rosa graciously donated $25,000 to sponsor a quad of four patient rooms in the new building. They also didn’t hesitate to name Rancho Harvest, Inc. as a $10,000 Hope Sponsor for the 2014 and 2015 Day of Hope events in support of Marian Cancer Care patients at Mission Hope Cancer Center.

“My hope is that more community members open up their hearts by giving in support of patients at Mission Hope Cancer Center,” states Jesse. “Cancer is a painful experience – for the individual and entire families. It is rewarding to know that together, we can make a difference.”
