Goal Achieved! Marian Emergency Services Expansion Project Exceeds $2.5 million

It is our distinct pleasure to announce that the $2.5 million campaign goal has been reached!
With the busiest Emergency Department in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties, Marian Regional Medical Center has seen an astonishing increase in patient volume from when the new hospital opened in 2012, growing from 48,000 visits to 77,622 in 2017. Due to this record growth, more space is necessary to continue meeting the community's growing emergency and trauma needs.
Due to the generosity of the community, the Emergency Services Expansion Project will provide 50% more square footage to the department with 10 additional private exam rooms, a second nursing station, and a specialized pediatric track. In June, the Marian Foundation was awarded a generous grant from The Hearst Foundations in the amount of $125,000 making this significant gift the latest in support of the Emergency Services Expansion Project.

Marian Regional Medical Center was recently awarded an $800,000 grant from the State of California for our new Obstetrics and Gynecologic Residency Program. Through the State's Song-Brown Healthcare Workforce Training Program, Marian also received a separate $125,000 grant to help fund the new physician residents' education.
The established Family Medicine Residency Program also received $250,000 from Song-Brown, which brought an astounding total of $1,175,000 to help cultivate the physicians of the future!

This summer, we welcome the first class of OB/GYN Residents at Marian: Christopher Carls, DO, River Saul, DO, and Rebecca Ruebsamen, DO. This four year program will bring new OB/GYN physicians to the Central Coast and will help positively impact health care for generations to come. Welcome physicians!
